Our Mission
Our mission is creating family and community safety. We are focused not only on making our community safer today, but on breaking generational cycles of trauma, abuse and violence. Safety is the foundation of strong families and thriving communities.
Our Beginning
Early on, One Safe Place, originally named Safe City Commission, focused on reducing gun and gang violence in Fort Worth—bringing together law enforcement, community leaders, and residents to address the root causes of crime and improve neighborhood safety.
Over time, it became clear domestic violence was one of the most urgent and complex drivers of violence in the community. Victims were navigating a fragmented system—moving from agency to agency, often retelling their story multiple times while facing ongoing danger. In response, community partners joined together to build a better, more collaborative approach to reducing domestic violence.

The Creation of the Family Justice Center
The result was the creation of the One Safe Place Family Justice Center—where agencies and professionals across disciplines could work together, and survivors could access law enforcement, legal services, advocacy, counseling, and support services in one secure, centralized location. By co-locating partners and coordinating services, One Safe Place removed barriers and created a safer, more effective path to safety.
In addition to its Family Justice Center program, One Safe Place continues to offer innovative and best-practice programming to create a safer community for all of Tarrant County.

Our Work
Collaboration is the key. One Safe Place brings together law enforcement, schools, community leaders, and service providers to prevent violence before it happens—addressing root causes, disrupting cycles of harm, and building safer neighborhoods across Tarrant County. More than 25 partner agencies work side by side within our Family Justice Center to create safety and hope for victims of domestic violence, trafficking and children exposed to domestic violence. By bringing services together in one location and working together, we remove barriers create pathways to hope and safety.
